I first read this book just after it came out about 14 years ago. I still refer to it from time to time and think about the messages I read and learned frequently. Really helped me in my life.
this book clear so many things and feelings in my life
mathew mcwhatever ruined this series for me and everyone...not that they were that good to begin with.
Fabulous book that I could not put down....I also had to download the second in the series immediately after finishing the last page of this!
This was a quick, cute read. It would be a good book to take to the beach or a day out.
"The definitive novel about American politics," stated the New York Times, but there is actually very little politics in this book. The political world of Willie Stark (based on Huey Long, the governor and senator from Louisiana) serves as the background for the narrator, Jack Burden to act and think. His cynical world-view is very similar to mine, and that is probably why I like this book. This is one of the quotes I found entertaining: "Lois looked edible, and you know it was tender all the way through, a kind of mystic combination of filet mignon and a Georgia peach aching for the tongue and ready to bleed gold." However, there are a few "secrets that will shatter their world"-type themes that I find too much like today's popular pulp books and that detract from the overall work. All in all, a very good novel and easily one of the greats of American literature.
Way better than 'for one more day'
Good. I feel so bad for Richard. He always gets the short end of the stick :(
