This book is a no-grit, dirty, real look at the world of tattooing. Normally, I don't read nonfiction, but Jeff Johnson's voice was so enteraining, I didn't realize it wasn't fiction!

If you are interested in the original Conan the Barbarian stories from the 1930s then you should read the three volumes in this series. As far as I know it's the only place they're all compiled. The author, Robert Howard, lived in Texas his whole life with a domineering mother and committed suicide at age 30. So that's a trite look at where he was coming from.

This is a decent biography of Kierkegaard, although I think that Garff strays too often into a psycho-analytic analysis of Kierkegaard that is, at best, speculative.

This book is long and somewhat literary, but not at the expense of being engaging. I'm enjoying the writing and the characterization a lot, and I highly recommend it to people who are willing to read something a bit more demanding but worthwhile. I haven't finished it yet, so we'll see if that changes, but so far, so good. Update -- I finished it. It was long, but I didn't mind because I enjoyed it; I never felt like, "Am I still reading THIS?" the way I felt with "One Hundred Years of Solitude."

I have a soft spot for David Sedaris. He is one of the few writers that can make me laugh out loud on the subway and it feels worth it, even though strangers might think I am crazy. Family is a never ending pool of stories to tell and share.o
