Beautiful!!! I loved it and I can't believe I didnt read it sooner
I keep picking up more 'literary' novels this summer and then putting them down and grabbing Giles Blunt's murder mysteries instead. This is the fourth book in his John Cardinal series and it is as fabulous as the other three. In particular, Blunt's description of loss and mourning in this one is as literary as anything I've read. Blunt grew up in North Bay, Ontario (and now - after many years in N.Y. writing scripts for tv crime series - is based in Toronto) and can he set a frigidly cold scene. I am looking forward to his most recent novel but may save it as a treat for the winter holiday.
