‘Watchmen’ is an exciting, spontaneous, and action packed graphic novel taking place in 1885. The book starts off when Eduard Blake, a stuck up, muscular war veteran who only cares for himself, better known as The Comedian in the crime fighting community, is thrown, or fell, through the window of his 14 story apartment. As another masked fighter, Rorschach, “An extremely right-wing, and morally uncompromising, [with] a viewpoint that has alienated him from the rest of society.” (Alan Moore) observes the crime scene; he quickly discovers that this was no accident. Rorschach tries to warn other vigilantes that there is a mask-killer on the loose. While most being reluctant to believe him, he takes matters into his own hands. While being kind of slow getting to the main point of the novel, the journey is filled with lots of action, and unexpected, clever twists that retract what you think you know about the complex plot. Being a person who used to dread at the sight of books, I found this novel was very entertaining, and at the very least, it always held my interest. Continually guessing, and second-guessing myself on the plot, I was always on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what would happen next. Having one of the most unexpected, and ingenious plots, I would recommend this book to anyone.
