I've been doing a re-read of Jane Austen this year...and I'm sorry to say it, but Emma is still probably my least favorite. I mean it's good - it's Austen - but I can't ever make myself love Emma herself. She's manipulative and selfish, but she doesn't own up to it in a way that makes her fun. She's just sort of childish and I like Mr. Knightly way too much to wish her on him. Sad, but there it is.
This was a powerful personal story. Painful to go with her through these memories but very good. Another one of her's I couldn't put down
