GREAT BOOK. I wanted to know what happened, and I highly enjoyed the twist at the end. Loved the Beka Cooper Trilogy :)

I was thrilled to find out what the world was like after the revolution in Specials (Book 3). However, this story didn't intrigue me like the others in the series. In my opinion, there was too much technology, and the introduction of "extras" made it seem like Westerfeld got a little carried away (space creatures is usually where I draw the line, anyway). I did enjoy the all-too-brief appearances of Tally and her clan, and I found myself missing Zane to round off Tally's sharp edges. Overall, it was a pretty good book, good enough that I kept reading, but not with the same intensity I devoured the other three.

After I bashed Patterson's "Big Bad Wolf" & "Four Blind Mice", I thought I would stop buying his Alex Cross books, but had already purchased "Mary, Mary" and this tome, "Cross" beforehand. I am glad now that I did, and recently picked up more Cross mysteries. In this novel, Alex Cross finds himself chasing his wife's killer, while the Butcher is doing plenty of killing of his own. While the killer's motivation goes from being a mob hitman to revenge, his brutal style doesn't change, and he has to be stopped. Cross, further motivated by the recently learned fact that the Butcher killed his first wife, does everything he can to stop him. If you like high body counts, sadistic killers, and a determined police detective, you'll like "Cross".
