Harry is doing what he always does and that is chasing baddies and not always knowing which is which. This time he has the Alphas, a group of werewolves that Harry has sort of adopted although it seems to me that they have adopted him. This book centers around the Summer Knight, the White council and the outcome will determine if there is another Ice Age. Harry always is on the edge, technically, with the White Council and now he has to prove himself again. He also has to help Susan from going over the edge and become a full werewolf and being lost in this endeavor he is failing miserably and so his life has become a freaking mess. New characters are added all the time and they are always interesting and unusual, to say the least. The dialog, as usual is over the top but I think this book is a turning point as the story and plot seems to be more cohesive and if so, the series is on the edge of great things.

I liked this book. It was a fun read. I definitely liked the Fablehaven series better. It's cute & good for a young audience.

I give this four stars only because, although I recall enjoying it, and despite its length, I can't really remember anything about it. War and peace and war again, then more peace, then war, then peace. Oh yes, individual stories which kind of weave around the wars, as well as deep commentary on the fighting itself. Some quite complex characters, in their Russianly self-evident way. Tolstoy, despite fashioning himself as a historian, gives a pretty one-sided view - not exactly fair and balanced, but from this distance its easy to read in context and enjoy. Having not read any history books on Napoleon, this is where I gleaned most of my knowledge of his build-up to, and invasion of, Russia. Don't read it for the war though - it doesn't quite have the relevancy of twentieth-century combat - read it for the peace.

Filled with unnecessary details, loses sight of the main story to cover the second story, and the ending doesn't give the reader satisfaction.

Great beach or couch read! Surprisingly smart but infinitely readable.
