I jumped on the bandwagon for this one and don't regret it for a second. Easy, exciting read you don't have to think too much and some times thats just fine.
I wrote it, so I've decided not to rate it. I guess I could say what I learned from writing it: it was my first novel, after having written only short stories, so I learned to write at length - but not great length!
I thoroughly enjoyed this!
Like almost everyone else, I read this in High School. I just remember it having a certain kind of aura... it stuck with me. I have a special place in my heart for it. I know most people gag on the memories of evil English teachers forcing them through this terribly depressing novel. While it is bleak, to be sure, I don't believe bleak is an epithet (though most people use it that way). I think poor Ethan deserves a second read--as an adult.
