Not usually a fan of V. I. But I really liked this one. She seemed more human, more real, more approachable.
I think this is the one that reads like a variety of essays crammed together into something resembling a novel.
A blatant twilight clone for pre-teen school girls , and I did not even read twilight.
The prose itself is maybe deserving of 4 stars, but the entire physical book is designed with wit and playfulness, which more than compensates. For example, the fonts change halfway through and there is tiny writing on the edges. This is written by a designer, after all... It's a half-true memoir about the author's experience in design school and becoming a book jacket designer - Chip Kidd is as close as you can get to a celebrity in the industry. Irrerverent, easy to read and sparkling with moments of genuine insight.
