My only complaint is that the conflict between Rhage and his monster went on too long. He refused to tell Mary about it even though he believed it could endanger her life. Other than that, I really enjoyed the story and can't wait to read Z's next! **Second read** I agree with my last review. I really wish Rhage had just gotten on with telling Mary what was happening with him. But on the other hand, John Matthew was introduced here and it was really cool to go back and remember how he got his start with the BDB.
Easily now one of my favorite novels. Hartley's ability to write children is amazing. This is a must-read, heartbreakingly good.
