I have been waiting for this book!!!!!!!!
I really liked this book. It's a subtle, beautifully written story of forgiveness and redemption and the power of love. Sounds hokey, yeah, but it's not, and it has its share of pain and heartache along the way. The story follows Victoria, a child of the foster-care system, who believes herself a misanthrope with no desire for love and friendship. Her non-existent communication skills leave her isolated, which is all she expects or believes she deserves, with some reason. She's made some really big mistakes. However, through her love of flowers and understanding of the forgotten victorian language of flowers, she is able to interact with people and the world in unexpected and surprising ways. I'm pretty sure this is going to be my next book club pick.
Houdini the best part of the book but really this book is lackluster as a whole.
so feminist and socialist. so cool.
Just finished the audiobook. I liked it. Although Timothy Hutton will always be Archie to me.
