Like "Nervous Conditions", an excellent immersion in an African culture. I recommend it.
Easy on the mind, and easy on the soul. Was expecting a snoozefest based on a previous experience of reading a Nicholas Sparks book, but it turned out fairly interesting despite the straight-forward manner of the plot and characters, and the "tellish" manner of writing was bearable. My enjoyment of the book may or may not have been affected by the fact that Zac Efron is going to play the cinematic version of the hero. >_> <_< yeah....guilty as charged. Imagining Efron's sappy Charlie St. Cloud face running through the plotlines of the book cures a great many evils, including a ridiculously perfect heroine paired off with minimal, cliched conflict to a ridiculously perfect hero. So. Enjoy! Or don't.
I loved the idea of this book, but as so often is the case, I didn't really like where the author went with it. A good solid novel, however.
