Nothing special about this book. I could say its cheap and easy literature just to entertain yourself ofr a while. Yeah, very original, a misterious picture concerning two guys playing Chess: wow... Dissapointing novel.
I am a huge fan of vampire fiction, and since I had never read anything by Adrian Phoenix I jumped at the chance to read this story! The author grabbed my attention within the first two pages, and held it for the first two chapters. In those first two chapters Heather Wallace's dad shows up at her bar, and she learns that it was her sister Annie who had called him. He has come to save her from Dante Babtiste the vampire she loves, who is actually asleep in an upstairs bedroom. After the first two chapters then the book backtracks to the last three days before the incident at the bar, and in essence that's where I became lost. With so many characters being mentioned, that I really knew nothing about it was hard for me to follow along. The final two chapters of the book takes us back to the bar incident, drawing me back in and then leaving me with a real cliff hanger! Etched In Bone is book four in the Maker's Song series, and I would definitely say that you need to read this series from the beginning. I hadn't read any of the other books and totally felt out of the loop for most of this novel. I like the premise of Dante's character, who's father is a fallen angel. While its easy to see that Heather is tough, she is also vulnerable when it comes to Dante. The bond the two shares shows how connected they really are. They are lovers, sure, but it is so much more than just physical, they actually love each other. I would caution readers that there is alot of foul language and a bit of violence in this book. Cursing doesn't bother me, I actually expect to see it when I read urban fiction/fantasy but it seemed to be on every page of this story, which seemed a bit excessive to me. I think fans of this series could pick up this book with no problem, but if your new to the series like I was then I highly recommend starting out with the first book, so that you wont feel as lost as I did. rating 3/5 I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Amusing, indeed! If you like the tv show, you must love this book. A bunch of Bart's philosophy of ignorance to the ordinary life (in fact, his life is already a bit abnormal).
