Eragon written by Christopher Paolini is an epic quest of one young man and his dragon that push's himself to stand against an evil empire with the help of his old mentor Bram. This book fills in the section on the bingo board of a book with a male main character. This book was one of the first long books that I got really into. I read it many times before this year so picking it up and revisiting the tale of Eragon and Saphira was an easy choice especially with the impending release of Inheritance the 4th book in the series. I found this book to be an awesome and cleverly written adventure and while it starts off rather cliched with a young farm boy becoming a hero it sets itself apart from the rest by creating an interesting and deep world populated by many clever characters that all have a part to play. The book while having all this and more is still a light read and the way it is written is rather amateur with some points in the plot falling flat and Eragon comes across as somewhat of a wimp at several parts as well. Overall though the mythology and varied characters help push Eragon above the many generic dragon fantasy books and help set it apart. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good fantasy book filled with mostly exciting events and memorable characters and to those who watched the movie adaptation and found it appaling, this book is great make sure you start with this one and move on to the sequals because they improve apon Eragon in every way.
I like books in the 1st person but I found this book to move too slowly and by the end I was glad it was over. It's a good story and it's a realistic portrayal of a family moving through loss of a loved one. I just wish more STUFF happened in the book.
This is a true story, and an amazing story to understand, as this was a complete genocide. We hear so much of the Jewish Holocaust however there were worse injustices in the world.
