I must admit that the prospect of actually reading this 614 page tome I lugged home from the library was daunting. And I expected it to be boring and difficult...but right away I was mesmerized and hooked - even the mathematics, chemistry and physics parts are not boring...this is the most fascinating book I have read in a long time.... A history of biology told in the style of Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales"...complete with political and literary insights... Tales of truly remarkable creatures
Oddly, I found this pretty well written, yet pretty unlikable.
