Walls of Water, North Carolina, is near the entrance to a national forest. Willa owns a store that caters to the hikers and she doesn't fit in well with the locals, although she grew up there. Paxton also has roots in the town and is president of the Women's Society Club. Willa and Paxton's grandmothers were best friends and they have a secret in their past that is unearthed during restoration of the Blue Ridge Madam. A skeleton was found and both women fear their grandma was the killer. The man was a travelling salesman who charmed the whole town but especially the women. Willa's predictable life is upset by Paxton's brother, Colin, who challenges her. Paxton's life seems ruled by the demands and expectations of her parents and not her dreams. Both women need to let go of the past and go after what they really want in life.
...I love the hilarious Catcher In The Rye non-experience, experience. haha. Ok, great things about this book: smart, sharp, cool writing. It's interesting to read. There are bits and pieces that really strike you as you go along. I got more than halfway into the book before I realized that I didn't find a plot, I mean, what happened to the mysterious girl? what happened to the dad? What happpened to his best friend...? But, I kept reading. Good reading experience. If you like the voice in the first few pages -- just keep going. If not -- stop. Easy peasy.
