More a book about relationships...im mixed about my feelings about this book. Could definitely have been better.

if you are not a die-hard romantic, this book certainly wants you to see its joys and perils. The prose is also beautifully written.

Nice mixture of techniques and inspiration, not too intimidating, but not too simple. One of the nice things about it is that it gives many ideas for reusing some of those tiny things that you're otherwise not quite sure what to do with, like flashlight bulbs and old watches or other pieces of jewelry. Beyond that, though, it has some good instructions for working with materials to create new charms as well, like paper or Sculpey or beads. It will make a good reference book.

This is a survey history of the United Kingdom's expansion from the British Isles into Africa, India, and beyond. It explores the economic motivations of the British, from outright piracy against the Spanish, to the schemes of the East India Company. The book does not hestitate to depict the brutality with which native populations were subjugated to the Crown authorities (there is a chapter called "White Plague"). It also tries to get into the Victorian's mindset and sense of mission to "improve" peoples of other cultural backgrounds. An interesting look at the Empire what was.
