BAD! There are so many reasons why this is bad... I could go on and on and on! I stopped reading at page 260... so maybe it became drastically better! Here's my laundry list of why the book should be used as toilet paper: 1- The characters are undeveloped. Path is a silent mysterious boy that all of a sudden yells out stuff upon first meeting the main character.... by more than half of the book you still don't find out if he's a fallen angel or not.... and frankly I no longer cared. I can't even remember the main characters name... I could have looked it up but really I don't care. Such a boring character. Hey I'm the dumb characer, "I like Patch in my mind but out loud I'm going to pretend like I don't like him! I hate him but I need to do good at school so I am goin to sneak out of my house in the middle of the night and track him to a pool hall to finish an assignment that I'm never going to hand in the next day. Kiss me Patch. Hey don't kiss me!! I hate you. Does Patch have a girlfried?" Then there is Vee the funny fat friend.... oooo she's so freakin funny... saying one liners that surely captures a regular friendship. NOPE! there was a moment (view spoiler) 2- I honestly don't get the plot..... Is the mysterey about the guy in a ski mask that appears sometimes or is it that she doesn't get what Patch is or is it that she is a boring twit and its a character study about stupidity.... I simply did not understand the path this book was trying to take me on.... I mean for godsake I read 66% of the book... I should have gotton to the plot, right?... but then I no longer cared about what Patch would be.... I almost hoped he'd turn into a vampire and suck all the blood from the main character... maybe make the book interesting. 3- The main character likes Baroque music. you find this out from Patch telling her this... I'm sorry but a teen likes Baroque? Really? Ok so I'll buy that for 10 cents.... But then she never listens to the music... no posters or cds.... she's in the car alot... never turns it on... Patch tells us that she plays cello..... no cello in her room or house... never plays the cello later either.... I'm sorry but a person that plays cello and loves to listen to Baroque, will practice their dang cello. (I play violin... this is obvious to me) So this tells me that the author just threw this crap in with no thought of developing an amazing world or chracter or even a little research.... 4- This is not YA its middle grade.... The chick is 15 and says she's never considered the idea of liking a boy.... Is something wrong with her biologically? Is she just skipping puberty? I mean she doesn't even have a poster of a cute guy. And Patch has been in her freakin class room the whole year, but all of a sudden... she falls for him upon meeting him to do an assignment... It must be due to her love of Baroque music.
Another bleak story that ends up turning your thoughts around, somehow.
Maybe my favorite book of all time? Even when I don't agree, I still love it.
Liked this one a lot.
