I read it in less than half a day and I liked it. I didn't read it because it was recommended or had celebrity endorsements or glowing reviews. It captured the character and his condition well and was engaging in the logical way he related to the world around him. I relate that way sometimes myself. It doesn't really make you feel good. It's not supposed to. I found that the ending however gave me hope for his future- to maybe have a "normal" life for himself. I think it's one of those love-it or hate-it books.

Yet another satisfying and horrifying Richard Preston novel. It almost makes me want to go back to school and study epidemiology!
Absolutely amazing, this book is second only to LoTR trilogy in my re-read list, now on my fourth copy as i have worn the others out.
