I didn't think I would like this book - but I actually did! I found myself really feeling sorry for the creature and wishing that Frankenstein would just make him a partner - he could have saved himself from all the pain he went through! The ending was somewhat disappointing, but fitting for the story.

Jayde Scott started following my reviews on Goodreads so I wanted to check out her writing. This is the first of her books that I've read. It's the beginning of a series that includes all manner of paranormal creatures from vampires to Shadows to succubi and more. Amber is looking for a summer job to make some money for college. Her brother helps her answer an ad in the newspaper for a housekeeper position in Scotland. Little does she know that she'll be working for a vampire! Amber stumbles into a centuries old race and inadvertently makes off with the grand prize, causing quite a stir in the local paranormal community - plus it puts her life in grave jeopardy. She is fairly shocked when she discovers the true nature of her boss and others around her. She agrees to give back prize and the gift that came with it which results in a precarious partnership between the Shadows and vampires - normally sworn enemies. Everyone has their own agenda and Amber has to decide if she can truly trust her vampire boss, Aiden, who is also very attracted to her. This was a super-fun read. The characters are so quirky and fun. Amber was a bit clueless and awkward but it only added to her charm.
