I read this a couple of years ago and did not like it at all. I get what the author was going for (prose that accurately reflected the literacy level and idiosyncrasies of the narrator) but it grew tiresome to read non-standard English for that many pages. Of course, the fact that I was teaching ESL at the time and spent most of my days wading through grammar mistakes and non-standard English probably did not help.
