Completely charming and funny, in a way that's intelligent without being difficult and cozy without turning sticky-sweet. I had an edition from the 80s with a plain cover, from the library, and there was no indication of the original copyright or an author bio, so I read in blissful ignorance (but I could tell without being told that it was a product of the 1930s). Now if I could just get my hands on Miss Buncle Married, all will be well. Fortunately, the library has several other Stevenson titles to tide me over.
