Bu loooong novle'ın kendini özümseyen anlatıcılardan biri vardı, şimdiye kadar şifreledim. Doktorasını bitirmek için çabalayan bir Montreal grad öğrencisinin bu masalı komik ve hareketli bir an günahı vardı, ama büyük ölçüde basılan sayfaları haklı çıkarmak için yeterince ilgi çekici değildi.
LOVE this book. It's funny and smart and the characters are awesome.
"Franny" seemed just a bit thin, until I realized it was just the setup for the pretty great "Zooey." No one does conversation like Salinger and Zooey's lecture/tirade/therapy is magnificent. (No one does family fealty like JS either.) His description of Jesus won't draw me back to the church, or even religion per se, but he's quite persuasive, as only a Glass man can be. One odd detail about this novel and most of the 9 Stories. Everyone smokes, almost constantly and the various rituals of finding cigs, lighting up, seeking ashtrays etc, takes up a good bit of the text. Another detail I had forgotten, but love: the number and good taste of the literary (and religious) references liberally sprinkled throughout.
