I will ask you therefore, my dear boys, to put away from your minds during these few days all worldly thoughts, whether of study of pleasure or ambition, and to give all your attention to the state of your souls (p. 78) Do y ou believe in Jesus? I believe in man. Of course, I don't know if you believe in man. I admire you, sir. I admire the mind of man independent of all religions. Is that your opinion about the mind of Jesus? (p. 144) I shall express myself as I am (p.147)

Vivid colors splash across the page in this picture book biography of Annette Kellerman, the Australian swimmer who invented water ballet and shocked audiences with her "skimpy" (for the times) bathing suits. Annette's vivacious personality comes across on every page as she becomes a record-breaking swimmer, advocates for female athletes, and designs new non-restrictive bathing suits for women. This is a great story of a woman who was not afraid to follow her dreams or fight for what she believed in!

Well I did like the surprising story. About how his daughter and all his friends. Nobody knew the truth til what happened to all those people until that one person manages to take all that in and have to go through what those people did not have to go through. It was clearly a book a book with alot of pain. It would take a real and brave person to live through what the 2 main characters had to in the fictional book!

The other great book by VN, the story works because it creates a character who wants to be more important than he is and because the framing device of marginally talented editor toying with and appropriating the last epic poem of a mythic Great American Poet. Grand adventure, intricate and lilting prose, but without quite the heart of =Lolita=.
