It's an entertaining enough story, especially for a debut novel. However, I do believe that she pigeonholes her characters. If anyone is inclined to read her follow up books...DON'T!! I always try and support fellow Latino/a writers but a good book is a good book. She needs to find inspiration outside of the tabloids and the media's interpretation of Latinos
I have a student who has a sensory-motor disintegration. I didn't really understand what that meant other than him reacting in sudden outbursts of sound or violence. This book was a helpful way to start understanding how I can teach him better, and help him to control his body.
