Let's be honest, I was always going to love this book. But as it turned out, my love for the book extended so much more beyond simply my passion for all things magic. First and foremost, the writing itself was outright fantastic. Almost every book I've read lately has been imperfect, with wordings misspelled, incorrect punctuation, or sentences that simply didn't make sense. But this book was flawless, not one single time did I have to go back and re-read something to understand what was going on. Maybe this should be a given with books, but I've found that it really isn't! Additionally, the way the story was told was original and engaging. Morgenstern could have very easily told her story in a straight forward fashion, but the jumps in time really added something special. And the chapter openings describing different aspects of the circus were perfect, it was so easy for me to believe that I was really there. I just loved all of the characters, especially Marco. I wonder if he is supposed to be sexy? I assume not, but my God, I was just in love with him. And moreso, I am in love with the idea of him and Celia together. They were so believable, and my heart just ached for hem the entire time. All together, this book really combined he best of my worlds, from Harry Potter, to The Hunger Games, even to Water For Elephants. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed any of these books.

This book is the simplest clearest teaching that I have read on sin. It is convicting and yet freeing all at once. It gives a great view into what it was like to hear Jesus tell the stories that he told about sin.
