As said by so many others, this takes the works by Michelangelo that you know (Sistine Chapel, David, Pieta) and gives you the man behind them, the time he lived in, the power struggles he was caught up in, and the sense that you understand how they produced the masterpieces that still inspire us. The author pulled a lot from translated letters, which gives the dialogue a bit of a letter feel, but also makes it that much more possible that the people felt the way they are portrayed. (Also, a surprising easy, fast read!)
Cat, the protagonist of the story, is facing some major issues. She have a boyfriend, named Squidge, but she's long over him. However, she couldn't find a way to break up with him. They had been together for really long and he really love her. Another problem she's facing, which connects to the first one, is she liked someone else. This guy name Ollie and Cat's friend, Becca, also liked him. How can she ever find a way to clear everything up? The reason why I chose to read this book is because I forgot what white lie means and I want to be reminded. Because of my curiousity, I came upon this faulous book. This book keeps the reader interested by always starting off and ending with a hook that pulls us in. Sometimes, I don't regret being noisy.
