Wonderful wonderful wonderful! So deep, inspiring, and so clever! Very entertaining.
I loved the idea - dectectives, alt. history, steampunk, Randall Garrett, Peter Wimsey etc. The writing was often poor. "So smart" - shown by stupid question. Everyone stated the obvious. Newbury kept performing feats of amazingness even after being half dead. So convenient that everyone was plague-less. No resolution on the plague thing yet. Ending was too "SURPRISE" y. No real tension. Nice touches of romance. (real review coming later)
