Why don't college professors tell you that Yeats believed in magic when they have you read his poems? Kind of important. Don't ya think?
Had seen the movie but decided to give the book a go after reading One Day. Very good - not quite up to the same standard as One Day - but very funny and likeable book. Read it in 2 sittings very easily
Incredibly dark, especially considering the target age group. The illustrations are getting better for each book. The artwork drives my rating up a star, from 3 to 4. I only wish these books came out faster.
Not Vonnegut's best, but still an interesting read. The story (albeit fragmented in time) of a Army Vietnam vet who becomes a teacher at a crappy college, then a warden of a prison, then a prisoner himself.
Another first rate collection of Foucault's essays & interviews. This book covers work from the latter part of his career. The presentation is somewhat fragmented, but certain interviews (like "Truth and Power") are absolutely central to gaining a clearer understanding of what Foucault means when speaking about the mechanisms of power. A must read for anyone interested in the perplexing notion of "power/knowledge" as given to us by the great 20th century French philosopher.
