A Classic Favorite - and the movie is great too
A classic. A cold warriors last mission during the height of 60's east-west tension. Along with his Smiley series, this book defined a genre and for a genre book is incredibly intelligent, poignant and touching. And despite the fact that it is very much about a particular period in time, it manages to not be anachronistic while also providing a clear window into a strange period of our history. If you like genre, this is a must read
