This was a free book on my Kindle. I loved it! It was actually a Christian book but wasn't chock full of doctrine or anything. I really liked that it was so clean, funny and the characters made you love them.
One of those quick reads. Good story.
Second-tier Heyer, I'd say. Another frank and intelligent heroine, Ancilla Trent; another cold-but-moral hero, Waldo ... I forget his last name. Key source of conflict is her being of noble blood but reduced circumstances and working as a governess; a misunderstanding where she hears about his "brats" (orphans he cares for) and assumes they're bastards, but mercifully this only lasts about ten pages. Secondary character Tiffany, the utterly self-centered beauty, adds a lot of humor but ultimately I don't really believe anyone could be quite that selfish and heartless; even in her POV, I still don't believe in her. (The little girl in Sprig Muslin is on the same family tree but more believable and ultimately lovable.)
An interesting start to a new series - like the characters and am interested to see what comes next.
