this book brought me back to what i cherish in life, and inspired me to make more time for living that way.
This is one of my top 5 favorite books. Theodicy, holiness, human freedom, human existence -- Dostoyevsky explores them all and much more in this brilliant book. The Grand Inquisitor alone should be read by every thinking person at least once (if not more) in their lifetime. I like this translation in particular, because much of the dark humor is captured by the translators in a way that isn't in other translations I've read.
This is one of those books which talks about what people don't want to talk about: Mental illness. I feel there is far too little writing done about what it is like to be a family member of a mentally ill person. This book is a welcome, and sorely needed, exploration of this fact of life for so many people.
