I read this about 6 years ago, and just came back to it. I'm glad I did. I'd forgotten the heartbreak, the tragic characters, the monotony of ease. Beautiful.

This was not what I was expecting! I very much enjoyed many of the analogies and the plain and simple conveyence of the subject matter. Having said that, Brad Wilcox comes close but does not surpass S. Michael Wilcox in his writing and I still haven't found ANY writing that matches the simplistic and logical outline of doctrine written so succinctly in the second book of Nephi. I will be returning to this again in the future and definitely recommending it to anyone wanting to further their understanding of Christ's Atoning gift and how to more fully utilize it.

Perhaps not quite as good as "The Man Born to be King," but excellent nonetheless. Sayers has a great ability as a playwright to get complicated ideas across in dramatic fashion. Her re-creation of the Council of Nicea and the interplay between Arius and Athanasius is alone worth the read. Her treatment of Constantine avoids oversimplification seen in some treatments of him. My only minor quibble would be that the play does not give a full bodied, intelligent counterpart to the idea that formal union of Church and State would be a bad idea. Perhaps she felt that this would bog down the play and minimize dramatic flow. But even if this is a significant hang-up for you, if you are interested at all in the period don't let that stop you.

I loved this sci-fi book, it was the first book I read in the bolo series. It starts a bit slow, mainly setting the background, but when the action gets started it doesn't stop! The book is beautifully done with explanations of how the bolo weapons systems work, especially the explanation of the Hellbore cannon. This cannon is the bolo's primary weapon, in that it uses deuterium and creates a steady stream of star-like plasma at its target... the fight between man and machine is something to behold in this book!

This was good but I did feel that the plot was being stretched very thin to ensure that it was of novel length. There were a few obvious flag posts for clues and some I didn't quite get - was the father of the murdered girl's friend in on the murder or not? The voodoo explanations were confusing and in my mind contradicting at times with the lameness that people not living with voodoo in their lives wouldn't understand. So I suppose what I'm saying is that I wasn't convinced by the story but it was an okay read. Probably better as a film.

Another entertaining book in the Janet Evanovich's bounty hunter series. A fast read, the latest adventure of Stephanie Plum is very amusing.
