This is Neil Gaiman's first book, and I think a little weaker than some of his later ones. I still liked it though, and will continue to try to read everything he writes. Stay away Ilya, it's pure fantasy. This becomes clear sometime between when the Lady Door, Richard Mayhew and the Marquis first meet the Lord of the Rat-Speakers and when they realize they must retrieve the key from the Black Friars by completing three tasks before they can gain safe passage through the labyrinth guarded by the Beast to meet the Angel Isington. However, it is set in London.
