My second read of this book, actually. When I'd read it the first time, I'd been lead to believe it was a children's book-- and I suppose it could be, though I found it so much more than that. I think it is particularly applicable reading now, when we are a country involved in a very remote, very questionable war. All those conundrums about humanity becoming inhuman in order to save humanity. Also, something about it appealed to my obsessive/compulsive disorder.
I really enjoyed this book as well as the motion picture, though like many book to movie translations this was a lot better. I enjoyed the in site it gave to the way Hunter S. Thompson viewed the "American Dream" and how vulgar the "system" we live in was and still is.
