The man gets his props. Smartly written and the art direction is beautiful. The layout, design, and art throughout lifts it to a whole other level and fittingly, exceedingly illustrates the lyrics and stories of Jay-Z (he's also listed at having a hand in the art direction). Definitely a book to keep and have out for multiple viewings/readings.
Fantastic ending to the series, with a definite surprise ending
saw the movie and then read the book....definitely enjoyed both....
So apparently I have a new favorite genre, Urban Fantasy. Urban Fantasies are classic stories of good vs. evil; i.e. Vampires, Werewolves, warlocks, fairies etc, but it takes place in modern civilization with normal people mixed in the charactors. I would not have pegged this as genre I would like...For me it all started with Twilight...and then Sookie Stackhouse (although I liked more then loved those) and now its The Mortal Instruments series. I just finished book one (of 3) and I really enjoyed it! I think the charactors have attitude and are fun. This first book had a couple of good unexpected twists. I like Clary and Jace and Simon and Isabelle and Alec. They make a good team and their adventures in the "glamour" of the fantasy world are fun to read about. I look forward to seeing what happens next in city of Ashes.
I read this again and again and it never gets old. Sigh.
