A quick, fun read - full of action and twists and turns but not one of Dan Brown's best. The ending is a bit predictable. If you're lookin for some entertainment you don't have to think too hard about this is a good one.
I was hoping I would get more out of this book re-reading it as an adult than I did in high school. Nope. What am I missing? It's a classic, I know, but I just can't get into the writing, the plot, the characters, the symbolism. All yawns for me. If anyone wants to explain what I'm missing or how my English teacher may have failed me, I'm open to hearing it. But I feel pretty done with trying to appreciate this book. I do love all things Baz Luhrmann, however, so maybe the movie will finally win me over.
I'm a big fan of Nizar Qabbani. Some day, I hope to learn enough Arabic to read and listen to his poems without the barrier of translation.
Delightful story of the lives of ordinary, brave, gentle people during the Nazi Occupation of Guernsey in the Channel Islands.
Hoping to read this play or see it. I think there is a film version. His other plays are great, especially "The Beautiful People."
This book was a quick, fluffy read. The PW is a hoot and the book was very funny. However- I think this book shows the PW to be rather self absorbed. I kind of hated the way she treated her ex and how quickly she seemed to have gotten over her dog. Also, I wonder why she didn't go into more detail about her mother and father and why she was so angry with her mom. Left the reader to wonder what was not being said. Anyhow, it was cute. The writing was really not great (I did a lot of skimming). The last third of the book was the best part. It would make a cute movie.
