This book was required reading in some high school English class, but it simply did not sit well with me. Perhaps if I re-read it with more mature (hah!) eyes, I'd understand its gravity--but I really doubt it. As I recall, it has that drawn out feeling of being written by an author who strove for a clairvoyant description of Man at War, but who attained only a piddly echo of that theme.
