Isabel Wilkerson interviewed a staggering 1200 people for this book and it shows. Although she chose three main voices in which to tell the story of this country's migration of black citizens from South to North and West, the detail and vibrancy of their stories and countless others were vivid and helped to create a clearer picture of American history of which I only had a broad understanding. This is a great historical account of an important part of this country's past and a read I highly recommend.
