Janaway's introduction to Schopenhauer is a great outline of an extremely influential but difficult 19th century philosopher. Like the other Very Short Introductions, Janaway gives a brief biography and outline of Schopenhauer's work. He also illustrates the enormous influence that Schopenhauer had on late 19th century though, especially on Nietzsche and Freud (the latter concealing his intellectual debt to old Arthur, according to Janaway.)
** spoiler alert ** It's two o'clock in the morning and I've just finished reading this puppy. I am tired, my eyes are blood shot, and I haven't eaten anything in the past twelve hours. I've read this book thrice now, and what I have to say may not appeal to you. So, I am going to make this easy for you - and obviously, for me - by pointing out what had me in laughing tears and what had me as furious as a flying monkey. Shall we begin? This book includes: * A steamy - but unsatisfying - quickie between Cat and Bones. * The wedding of Vlad and Leila set in Romania. * The return of the old gang (Tate, Juan, Dave, and Cooper.) * The re-birth of Cooper and Madigan (Asshole motherfucker!) * A whole lotta deception, lies. * Cat's killer daughter. * A Maury scene between Bones and Tate. * A badass Denise and an over jealous Spades. * Delicious Ian scenes. * And an awkward finale. Now, as for my review of this book: Catherine and Crispin Russell, also known as Cat and Bones, have yet one last battle to fight. In this final installment of the Night Huntress novels, a war is brewing over the makes of Madigan and his entourage. When Don pops in on Cat and explains of his worries that Tate, Dave, Juan and Cooper might be dead; Cat and Bones spring into action. It is later discovered that Madigan has had the crew locked up and tested hoping to create a cross species creature. He wants to create the ultimate weapon. Things go south; cooper is dying and is reborn as a Vampire and Madigan commits suicide later brought back as a Ghoul. But nothing last forever; one lives and the other one pays for his horrible actions. But there is an ulterior motive, and this is driven by a Demon. It is by this discovery that the Red Reaper is a mother and her child is the rarest creature alive; part human, half vampire, half ghoul. She is also the ultimate cause for this coming war against Vampires and Ghouls. It will take the entire gang to stop this war. Enemies become friends...friends become distant. This book was amazing from top to bottom except for two reasons; the non-existent hot sexual scenes between Cat and Bones, and the sudden discovery of Katie Cat's seven year old killer *cough* daughter. In this masterpiece, we see more of Ian's heroic side and the family tie between Ian and Cat strengthens a lot. The argument between who's the daddy (Bones and Tate) had me on the verge of calling Maury. Spade becomes an overprotective jackass and Denise the ultimate kick ass heroine. To have your head sliced off your shoulders takes balls. What had me reeling was the sudden kick in the gut when Cat was told that she had a daughter. I understand what fans are saying; such a twilight move. Sorry to break it to you, but you are so wrong. Bella gave birth to the child, Cat didn't. Science gave birth to Katie. Step off and bitches, ya'll gotta swerve. Because if there wasn't any Twilight, then you sods would not be complaining. Nowadays everything is compared to Twilight. THIS FUCKING BOOK IS NOTHING LIKE TWILIGHT! TWILIGHT IS A SHITE NEXT TO THIS FUCKING MASTERPIECE! It is two fourty six in the morning. Goodnight, I hope you enjoy my review. Peace out, bitches.
