This is not your normal vampire novel and I really enjoyed it. It has a different look on things like if vampires were real and we all knew about their existence. Very clever. It does have some sex scenes but they are not too graphic. You can usually see when they're coming and skip a few lines if you choose. I plan on continuing on with the series.

It has some good points, especially about being proactive with your wealth and recognizing what constitutes an asset and what constitutes a liability. Basically, an asset is something that brings money in and a liability is something that costs you money, and the hard part is to figure out how to turn your liabilities into assets (eg. take your house which costs you a lot for maintenance, mortgage, and taxes and turn it into an asset by renting out a room). If you need permission to think big and be greedy, read this book.

Really loving Patchett's Run is what made me want to read State of Wonder, because I think I was one of the 5 people on the earth who didn't love Bel Canto. I wasn't disappointed: this is a great read, with all the usual tie-ins to emotions and history, with a little bit of modern-day science and industry thrown in. I recommend it.
