Peter Moore ile tanıştım, sonra kitabını bir scooter etkinliğinde satın aldım. O küçük Aussie'nin gerçekten büyük hikayeleri var. Daha ciddi çalışmaları İran'daki zamanını anlatıyor, ancak Vroom, Vespa Vecchia aracılığıyla İtalya çevresindeki eğlenceli bir rompayı anlatıyor. Very helpful. Very insightful. I don't know what I'd do if I didn't have this book telling me what I'm going through is normal. Plus, very handy when you are writing papers on the topic as well! It's the classic on PTSD.

Toute une génération qui fut romantique sans le savoir s'est reconnue dans ce portrait. Celui des hommes qui eurent vingt ans au moment de la guerre d'Algérie, entre 1950 et 1960. Découvrant la violence et la mort, mais aussi la beauté d'Alger sous le soleil, la magie des plages nues, obsédés par l'adolescence perdue, hantés par le mythe du cinéma américain, confrontés avec la torture, ils deviennent bientôt des "adultes", c'est à dire qu'ils perdent leur innocence, s'ils gardent leur nostalgies.
I loved Cold Mountain, so this was a letdown. I have to give it one star because I couldn't finish it. Not even close--I gave up 50 pages in. Mainly because it was de-press-ing. If you want this kind of historical fiction, read Cormac McCarthy. He's depressing too, but at least there's plenty of action.

You know....this little book really didn't resonate with me. It's a sweet book and I loved some of the Pooh Talk. I just don't think now is the right time to read it. Maybe I'll try again years from now....too many other great books on my shelf.
