I found this book absolutely fascinating - Ishiguro's ability to portray the complex psyche of an old-fashioned English butler was really astounding. It made me think a lot about the leveling of British classes, about what loyalty really means, and about what dignity implies. The novel was interesting, but more than anything that writing was just so GOOD. This man can really write. I wish I could give this one a 4 1/2.

I was so disappointed that such a great author had succumbed to the world of vampire books. Ugh. And worst of all is that I didn't discover it until half way through the book, so I figured I would finish it anyways. So disappointed. At least it came before Twilight, that saved the author in my mind.
