Spooky as can be....I quit reading this book in the middle of the tale when I first picked it up in the early 1980's. (Why am I doing this to myself). I reread it a few years ago when there were lots of people in my house and big strong dogs who would scare away any ghost who happened to pop out of the pages!
I enjoyed this novel from start to finish. Kerr flawlessly weaves fact with fiction as Bernie Gunther follows the leads of his toughest and most dangerous case. I had a feeling about the plot twist introduced around page 270, but the tension just kept building. I was frustrated by the non-Hollywood style ending, but understand that it was really the only logical, and most realistic, way to end the book. Can't wait to see Kerr & Gunther again.
