Almost only gave this three stars because of how the book ended, but I enjoyed the story and the writing.

Dr. Barnett is a clear, lucid, and entertaining writer. This book is not a philosophy book...it is more a personal memoir in a slightly self-helpy form. However, his writing is good enough to make this a strong, quick, and thoughtful read, and his chapter on loss and suffering could be a strong short essay.
