uzun zamandır okuduğum en iyi kitaplardan biri.
Hızlı, kolay okunur, mutlu bir hikaye!
Amazing!!!!
Still only halfway through this book, but it's marvellous. It's written-up conversations between a French philosopher of the Western tradition, and his son, Matthieu Ricard - Buddhist monk and translator for the Dalai Lama. Because it's in the form of a conversation - you really see the personalities of, and relationship between, the two men ... and with each challenging the other, it's the perfect way to digest something of both Buddhist and Western philosophies.
Many excellent lines in this play including the memorable: 'We are such stuff as dreams are made on, and our little life are rounded by a sleep.'
** spoiler alert ** I was surprised by this book. I almost didn't give it four stars. It's Terry Pratchett and therefore very well-written with fantastic characters that you really care about. This one was almost too dark for me, though. It's not his usual stuff, and I'm not even talking about Discworld only here, I've read a Johnny book and the Bromeliad trilogy. While well-written and well-staffed, the darkness kept knocking me out of wanting to read it, and the ending disappointed a bit as well. It seemed rushed and less satisfying than I hoped. Definitely a read for Pratchett fans, but not something for Pratchett newbies to start with. I suppose I'll need to buy Where's My Cow to lighten up a bit now...
