This is the first time I have read this author and I enjoyed the pace of the book. It was an interesting look at small town politic's and the fate of the miners. I found the characters a bit over the top in their abilities of fighting, endurance, etc. Maybe I'm gageing my own limitations and not understanding their special training.
Read this during the height of the Civil Rights movement.Both Angela Davis and Herbert Aptheker are known and respected scholars in the field of American History--especially from a Marxist point of view. Beautifully written--objective yet passionate. A must read.
