Don't ever read this book! It's odd, weird, uncomfortable, and it seems to drag on forever and ever. Seriously terrible. The sexual parts are a tad disturbing. Don't read this thinking it's an ok substitute for the musical. It's not. It has none of the fun, none of the resolution, none of the flow. Don't waste your time. I'm sorry I wasted mine.
