One of my favorite books of all time. Jennifer Egan is a fantastic writer - she's the female Jonathan Franzen!
There are a lot of mixed reviews about this book. Some didn't like it because they thought it was redoing Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, some did not think it was written very well and had a hard time following it or at times knowing exactly which character was speaking. I didn't have any issues with this book. It does not claim to be redoing the original. It's an Alternative take on the Alice in Wonderland story. It seems to go on the premise of, what if Lewis Carroll's story was really based on true events that everyone including the writer did not believe, so the original story is fantasy but then what is the real story? I don't want to go into detail because that would create spoilers and I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who would enjoy this book, even if they had not read Carroll's Alice in Wonderland. I had no trouble following the story or knowing which character was speaking. As for the writing what can I say I enjoyed the story and could hardly put it down.
Favorite Lancaster so far! Far too many F-bombs, but loads of great laughs.
