Wasn't as good as the first one. I thought it got kind of silly and repetitive.
I read these books a long time ago and loved them and found them to be perfect for re-reading over the weekend.
A nice version of the Cinderella story. This girl is not a damsel in distress; she is someone who sees true beauty.
*Disclosure - I received a copy of this book for free from Goodreads First-Reads.* I read Love is a Mix Tape in 2010, and Sheffield uses a similar structure here – take a song, tell an anecdote related to it (and maybe some other songs as well) – except that this time the general theme is coming of age in the eighties instead of his relationship with his first wife. Without the focus of Renee and her death, this seemed a little more scattered, but certainly less emotionally exhausting. I’m about a decade too young to truly relate to all of the specifics, but it was funny and enjoyable nonetheless.
